Hi all - Hope this is OK - My partner & I have a winery in Napa but are not part of Napa Valley Vintners, so we aren't on the library release site that has been floating around for launch today. But, I am a chronic redditor, so I thought this would be the right time to dig through the library. We only have a tiny amount of these wines left in 750s and given everyone is stuck at home, that seems to be the more appropriate format here. (Hats off to those of you who can do a magnum in a night.)
Elyse Winery has been a friendly neighborhood Napa Valley winery for over 30 years, so we have a deep library. Our library wines are mostly 12.5-13.5% alcohol, so the 90s are extremely expressive right now. The majority of these wines are from the Rutherford bench in Napa. All have been kept soundly in our commercial cellar - check out these corks from our 93s.
VINEYARDS
- The Morisoli Vineyard, cab and zin, is in the Rutherford Bench adjacent to Scarecrow. They have one of Napa's final old vine zin blocks. Morisoli was the backbone of the Prisoner in its earliest days.
- Tietjen Vineyard is an acre or so past Morisoli on the same alluvial fan in Rutherford. It's a tiny vineyard that only Elyse and Celia Welch work with.
- York Creek Vineyards are a sight to be seen on top of Spring Mountain, spanning both Napa and Sonoma.
