Judging service

At the end of the day, for me it’s about the wine. I realize there’s some excessive pomp & circumstance around wine service, especially with regards to somm standards.

But with that being said, do you ever get a little judgmental about service? I recently brought a few older bottles to a dinner at a higher-end steakhouse, and due to the cork condition the server brought the bottles to the bar.

I have no reason to not trust the staff, but felt disappointed that the normally white table cloth service fell apart when it came to this wine treatment.
