Better on Day 2???

I’ve read numerous tasting notes that reference the wine being better on day 2 but personally I’ve never been able to reproduce that effect myself.

Are you doing anything special with the bottle overnight?

I simply recork and sit it on the kitchen counter. Regardless of the wine, the next day it significantly deteriorates and tastes like day old wine. Some more than others, but never better on day 2???
