Willamette Valley Trip Part 2

This is the second part of my Oregon/Washington trip and I’ll write which wineries I stopped at, the stand out wines, and in descending order of how much I enjoyed the winery.

Domaine Drouhin: Absolutely incredible experience! All top notch pinots and chardonnnays. Very French in style with American fruitiness and great staff that were very knowledgeable and enjoyed geeking out over soil and making. I joined their wine club. Cannot recommend enough.

Bergström: arguably the best stop on my journey as far as tasting goes, they had top tier pinots and the best Chardonnay I have ever had on top of food pairings to go with the food and a lovely view. Wines were in the more expensive side but worth it for quality. Bought 4 bottles. Once again, highly recommend.

Domaine Roy: very precise pinots and a great rose. They were extremely terroir focused with pinots being made the exact same way, except from different sites on the vineyards. Bought 2 bottles

Ken Wright: not a single bad wine and the tasting was 5 wines from 4 AVAs to show the different qualities of the vineyards. Their spicy and earthy pinots really shines for me.

Alloro: a beautiful winery with incredible views and a great staff! The wines weren’t incredible but they were consistently good.

Dusky Goose: beautiful winery but the wine didn’t justify the cost of either the wine or the tasting. They do sell aged pinots and put them in their wine tasting lineup which is interesting to see the evolution over time.

Cristom: nothing blew me away and heavy on the fruit fly issue.
