Any recommendations for red wines? (beginner)

Hi,

I would like to have recommendations for red wines that are easy to drink.

I have tried lots of Italians, malbecs etc and it always feels to sour for me.

I have recently heard that the "soft" red wines are more on the side of Merlot, Syrah and Zynfandel. Is that true?

As a clue, I tried Kanonkop one day and I liked it a lot.
