Could Iran have been a big wine producing country if it weren't for the '79 revolutio

Apparently there were around 300 wineries in Shiraz by 1979, but in that same year they were all closed and the vineyards burnt. If it weren't for the revolution, do you think the country could've been a major wine producer in the same way South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia have become today?
