cioppino pairings: a red and a white

i'm planning some holiday menus coming up and I'm thinking of making cioppino according to this recipe: https://www.seriouseats.com/cioppino-san-francisco-seafood-stew-5212543, which is a bit lighter on the tomato than some other cioppino recipes and includes a roasted red pepper condiment.

that got me thinking about perhaps serving with two wines on the table: an off-dry white and an italian red with the body and acidity to stand up to both the piquancy of the dish and the richness of the broth. any suggestions for particular grapes, regions, or styles?
