Salons des Vignerons Indépendants (Paris November 2022) - Favorites and New Discoveries

Anyone else based in or around Paris and visiting the Salon des vignerons indépendants that is taking place right now until Sunday at the Porte de Versailles expo center? It's my favorite time of year to meet independent winemakers, taste some new wines, and stock up for the year to come!

We have a list of "regulars" that we buy from at the event every year, stocking up on everyday bottles that we know we love and are staples on our table, plus a few bottles to keep for special occasions. I've listed them below in no particular order (and you will see my bias for southern Rhône <3):

- Domaine de la Mordorée, Rhône. They make delicious Liracs, a great CdP, and a banging Tavel. Just a great producer.

- Serge Laporte, Sancerre. Sancerre is our go-to white wine appelation and this small producer makes the staple whites we drink year-round. The Cuvée des M.A.G.E.S is our favorite. Super affordable.

- Tour Saint Michel, Rhône. Excellent range of red wines from their basic Côtes du Rhône which is under 10 euros to their different CdPs. Excellent QPR for all their wines.

- Bosquet des Papes, Rhône. We love their all-Grenache CdP "Homage a Mon Grand Père" so I like to get 2-3 bottles to age

- Moreau-Naudet, Chablis. The producer is a very lovely woman, a widow who took over the business after her husband passed away. Delicious Chablis. Premier Cru "Forêts" was our favorite last year, I'm excited to taste her full range again this year.

- Dubois Bernard et Fils, Bourgogne. Great reds from Beaune. Last year we bought bottles of his Beaune 1er Cru "Les Bressandes", and I'll definitely get a lot more this year!

- Domaine de la Rocalière, Rhône. We visited this Tavel-based winery owned by two sisters last spring when we were on the hunt for delicious Tavels. It's their first time at the salon, so I'm excited to rediscover their range of Liracs and get some rosé for summer 2023 :)

In addition to these regulars we know and love, every year I try to pick one region or appelation that I delve into to try a bunch of wines, learn more about the region, and discover new winemakers. This year it's burgundy, with a special focus on whites.

Do you have any favorite winemakers attending?
