Dumb question. but best way to drink wine to test how to drink it?

Srry idk how to phrase my question. but i am a noob to wine and still learning (very very very slow pace).

so i was wondering what is the best way to progress drinking X wine in its stages to determine how to drink it?

what i mean is, i currently have a kirkland barolo (i forget off the top of my head what vintage. but its this years release).

i am a noob, but i know some theory, and know that barolo is made from the Nebbiolo grape. Which is high in tannins. (in fact, surprised when i first learned, it has a higher tannin level than Cab Sauv).

So i know that barolo should be aged a bit first, to let the tannins mellow out. i also know that if you want to drink a young barolo, going straight from Bottle to Glass to mouth will be a hit of full on tannin. And that it will help with some aeration by either decanting, double decanting, leaving it opened for a bit, etc.

so lets say i want to open this bottle up and try it at all stages so i get a better first hand idea of what each stage tastes like. How should i go about it chronologically? (because obviously if i go straight from bottle to decanting. I wont be able to taste how a young barolo tastes straight from the bottle to glass. Also, if i go straight from bottle to decanting and letting it sit for 5 hours, i wont be able to taste how a young barolo tastes just going from a bottle to a decanter and being drunk right away. etc etc)
