What is the better book? Wine Folly Essentials or Wine Folly Magnum Edition?

I've used both books in the past few weeks and I feel like the 2015 Wine Folly Essentials book provides a more no nonsense approach to wine and has better graphics when explaining wine varieties. The Magnum edition that came out in 2018 feels more like a study guide than a reference with less clear cut answers and more qualitative descriptors of wines rather than the classic binned descriptions of wines. I fee like the Essentials (2015) hit the nail on the head with giving a hard and fast answer while the Magnum (2018) is trying to be there for people who have already learned their own style for describing wine and are looking for validation. Can these books be used interchangeably or should they be seen as two separate entities?
