Visiting Madeira suggestions?

I'm visiting Madiera for a few days next month, I know little to nothing about these wines but I'm keen to learn and taste some wine while I'm there.

Can anyone suggest some places to visit/try/buy while I'm there?

Suggestions for nice restaurants with good wine lists also appreciated.
