Wine apps ruined the appreciation aspect of wine

For the past few years I have noticed an uptick in people checking wine labels on wine apps to "see" if they like it. I have been in several social situations where people first had to scan the label to see the ranking in order to comment on whether they like it or not.
Or they open wine and proclaim, "this is a 4.8 on [insert wine app here], it is a great wine". Only for it to taste average to me.
Maybe I am just surrounded by people who cannot form an opinion based on the actual taste.
