As titled. Not in the service industry but my wife and I really enjoy wine and want to learn more. Recently I started thinking it would be fun to start learning the basics of being a sommelier, learning bits and pieces but really studying. I'm looking at the Somm Essentials course from SF wine school right now, but at close to $2k I'm worried it's a going to be a waste of money for someone like me. Anyone else not in the biz but have taken a course like this: was it worth it? If so, what was the best benefit for you?
If not, do you have cheaper recommendations?
