Hey! I don't know if this is a weird premise to start a post with but, I have quite a bit of religious guilt regarding drinking alcohol but ever since moving out I've been wanting to do things for myself and try to get out of my comfort zone a little bit. I'm in my mid 20s and the only sips I've ever had of alcoholic beverages were cheap white wine from the convenience store at a birthday party, and a random bottle of sake that piqued my curiosity.
I have always wanted to get into winetasting as a hobby and to have something to enjoy in the evenings as some sort of 'ritual' or me-time after work (maybe I have a very romanticised view of it from the movies, lol?) so I thought I'd ask here if there are any tips on how I can approach this correctly but also safely, I am not knowledgeable on how much someone needs to get drunk or percentages or anything either, but I can say that I drank a 75cl sake bottle with 13,5% percent under one hour and felt nothing but my body warm up a bit (please don't laugh at me I really do not know if this is a regular amount or a feat but I guess I was expecting a little kick? Again I don't know anything).
I want to buy El Coto Crianza to start with just because it's cheap and I want something Spanish as I'm from there and it feels comforting, but if there are any recommendations you have to expand my palette as I go without breaking the bank I'd appreciate it so much. Also, how much is "too many glasses" and is there anything I should be doing before or after to prep the wine itself or to enjoy my experience more? Important vocabulary? Thank you! Sorry if this has been asked before, I searched up some past posts but I feel as though most people new to wine are not exactly new to alcohol and I kind of need more guidance on that front.
