I wanted to start getting a bit more serious about the world of wine, so in my free time I enjoy reading articles on the topic, the more scientific and clear they are the more I enjoy them.
I find Wine folly I find Wine Folly enjoyable—its articles are entertaining, even though sometimes not very detailed.
However, sometimes while reading certain information, I’ve had some doubts—for example, in this passage: "Tank method sparkling wines have a much more freshly made character with stronger secondary (yeasty) flavors."
I’m referring to the second part in bold, as I’ve always been inclined to believe the opposite.
Another time I was left doubtful was an article comparing the same grape variety grown in different regions. In that context, they said the one grown in the region that resulted in lower acidity and tannins was the one better suited for ageing. On this point, I’ve always tended to think the opposite, also because of famous examples like Nebbiolo.
Am I mistaken or could I have misunderstood? Is Wine Folly still reliable as a source? Do you know any other websites you would recommend?
