Looking for Wine Recommendations, Madrid/Cordoba in Spain

I'm staying in Cordoba, then Madrid over the next three days. I need to buy a good bottle of wine for family. I know they prefer dry wines and not much else. How can I go about finding the right wine in Spain, especially, if I'm not very experienced? What questions should I be asking and where should I look?
