Hi All!
I'm a young (25) transgender man who has traveled the world making wine, doing cellardoor/bottleshop sales, marketing, and exploring every corner of this industry that I can.
I started traveling the world making wine when I was just 19 and transitioned when I was 22. I've worked in England, Turkey, Italy, Netherlands, Australia, France and the USA. Veraison is my favorite stage of grape growth because it represents transformation!
Anyway, I have never met or read about another transgender person in the wine industry. I'm particularly interested in historical examples but also people alive today. Representation matters, and I’m curious to see how gender intersects with wine and its culture.

For 15 years, Athan Zafirov has traveled the vineyards around the world and worked with some of the greatest chefs including Francois Duc and Alan Brown.
