Just tried a tawny port for the first time and holy shit. Why don't we rec this to all the people who come here asking for sweet wine???? It's amazing!

I am a Costco fan and use it to try low cost versions of pretty much anything. I grabbed their 17$ 10-year tawny port just to try. Had it last night with chocolate and prosciutto.

And damn. I am still thinking about it. That candied nut taste and depth of flavor. The sweet and thick mouth feel. It was soooo good. A true dessert on its own.

I feel bad now that I never tried more of them. I will be going to the actual wine store today to see if they have one that isn't just Kirkland lol.

And we get a post a day of someone who says they only like sweet wine and looking for recs and people are pushing them to like beaujolais or rieslings and saturnes, but the real answer has got to be the tawny port!! It was a dessert on its own and so satisfying and so many layers of flavors. I'm usually terrible with notes but I could pick out the caramel, nuts, toast, as well as the fruit.

And I DONT usually like sweet wines. This has changed my view completely on what they can offer
