Sleep issues after red wine

Hello,
I (26M) enjoy wine more and more as the years go, especially red. But, about a year ago I had a couple of terrible experiences, where I drank a glass or two of red in the evening and laid sleepless half the night. As someone who cares a lot about sleep, I have just been very nervous to drink red wine since. White wine does not affect me in the same way.
I know this is a pretty common issue. Why is it happening? Is there anything specific I can do to fix this? Any specific wines to avoid?
