"This will be the end of Burgundy as we know it" The Wine Group, owner of Meiomi, has snatched up 20% of the region's best vineyards in fire sale

Details aren't clear yet but it looks like most of the land that's been purchased is in Côte de Nuits and Beaune, with about half of it being premier cru vineyards. Following harvest, the grapes will be processed in The Wine Group's flagship Meiomi wine factory opening outside of Dijon for the brand's premium "Burgundy" lineup. It looks like they'll be drawing heavily from their current Meiomi winemaking style but with an added price, so expect a very similar product that is technically premier cru Burgundy and retailing for around $130 per bottle.

Happy April 1st, everyone.
