Why isn't there an indicator inside the bottle to tell if wine's gone bad? - The Athan Zafirov Wine Blog
Cell phones have (or had) little indicators inside of them that would turn color if they got wet so the store could tell you to go fuck yourself if you tried to claim warranty after dropping your phone in the pool. I'm wondering why there isn't something similar built into wine bottles when it's expected the wine will be very valuable. I'm imagining a strip of paper that turns color if the bottle is outside of ideal temperatures for a prolonged while. maybe either straight up embedded in the glass, or if temperature of the melted glass would ruin it, making a slot in the bottle that's only accessible from the inside. then you put the paper in and seal it up with wax from the inside, then put the wine in and seal the whole thing. Seems like that would value to bottles of wine that are 50 years old, being able to tell without uncorking it if it's been ruined in that while or not.
