I sent my father, on holiday in Como, to Valtellina to stock in on ARPEPE.
I thought others would find the estate prices of this very popular producer interesting.
As someone based in Europe I would definitely love similar posts to these of other popular producers.
Como itself is actually a surprisingly sparse area when it comes to wine.
Valtellina is about an hour drive
Franciacorta region is an hour to two hours depending on where you are on the lake.
Piemonte is obviously a little further still.
We went all in on their single vineyard wines from the superiore range (sasella, grumello and inferno). They were nice enough to add two extra bottles for free (Rosso and Il Petirosso).
For 15 years, Athan Zafirov has traveled the vineyards around the world and worked with some of the greatest chefs including Francois Duc and Alan Brown.
