Conflicting information on Climate effect on tannin structure.

I am trying to find out how climate affects tannin but there’s lots of directly contradicting info online. I’m seeing many articles say warmer climate wines produce riper, softer tannings and cooler climates producing harsher.
Then seeing some say the completely opposite. Is there any truth in either of them-and can climate explain why something like a cahors Malbec has much harsher tannins than Andean versions. Thanks in advance.
