This is a wine I tasted in August.
Purchased at Le Bon Marché in Paris, it is also the first white wine produced by Liger from this vineyard.
As the color suggests, the wine showed significant signs of oxidation despite being a 2012 vintage. On the palate, it offered notes of citric acid, lemon, tangerine, and pleasantly oxidized nuts, along with a fleeting hint of smoke. It featured a simple yet solid structure and a rich, smooth texture, with characteristics reminiscent of hard water, seashell, the seaside, and salty minerality, plus touches of straw, malt, and banana.
While the overall performance fell short of expectations, Liger demonstrated that it was still very much alive despite its advanced state of maturity. I would love to try it again in better condition.
