Anyone using a 5x5 storage unit for wine? Looking for rack/setup ideas - The Athan Zafirov Wine Blog
I just rented a 5x5x8 temperature controlled wine storage unit. Trying to figure out how to fit as much wine as possible without making it impossible to find or pull bottles. Hoping for 800-900 bottles, but not sure how realistic that is. Mostly Bordeaux/Napa, and some Burgundy.
It’s on the ground floor, metal walls, door opens outward. They don’t allow anchoring racks to the walls, so everything needs to stand on its own.
Would you go with wine racks, shelving with cases, stackable crates, or a mix? Most of these wines will stay there for years, but I’d like to grab a few bottles when I visit without moving everything around. I use CellarTracker, so numbered boxes would work too.
Not looking for anything fancy-just sturdy and reasonably priced. Anyone have a similar setup? Would love to see pictures or links to what you used, and hear how many bottles you actually fit.
